Fashion Season AW 2019

These days it's one fashion week after another around the world and despite our best efforts, it’s not always easy to keep up with all the designs coming down the runway.  From New York and London to Milan and Paris, there are some beautiful pieces to look forward to this Autumn/Winter.  Here are some of my favourite colour trends that I think would easily fit into a chic every day wardrobe because, let’s face it, we don’t all get to walk a catwalk for a living - plus some of our leather handbags to match the colour scheme or complement it.

CHIC GREY

Fashion Week AW 2019 Designer Grey Colour Trend

My favourite trend for this A/W19 is grey, which works as a chic stand-in for the expected black winter uniform. Whether it’s head to toe, paired with sophisticated black or lifted with lighter shades, this is an unmistakably easy to wear trend.  Ferragamo had some especially beautiful pieces highlighting the versatility of the colour with interesting drapes and cuts in its designs.

WINTER WHITE

Fashion Week AW 2019 Designer White Colour Trend

Winter white is no longer the exception to the rule of dark colours in cold weather as it continues to be a staple each year.  Proenza Schouler had a beautiful coat adding depth to its pattern with black contrasting panels while Max Mara mixed textures and shades of light cream to live up to its well-earned reputation as the king of luxurious winter coats.

RICH BROWNS

Fashion Week AW 2019 Designer Brown Colour Trend

Golden yellows and earthy browns also added a richness to the palette for the coming season.  Although some of these colours are quite bold, adding a white contrast makes an easy day look while navy blue or black can transform an outfit into a more something more sophisticated for the evening.  I especially loved the Roksanda long gilet with navy blue and the oversized Max Mara jumper brought together with a structured coat and skirt.

BOLD RED

Fashion Week AW 2019 Designer Red Colour Trend

A/W19 wasn’t all about neutral colours though – there was plenty of red coming down the runway also.  From casual dresses to structured coats, this was not just red as an accent colour.  Roland Mouret’s intricately cut dress looked effortless in its movement and the colour of Prabal Gurung’s suit elevated this relaxed style into a head-turning look.

ANYTHING BUT BASIC BLACK

Fashion Week AW 2019 Designer Black Colour Trend

And finally, we can’t have A/W catwalks without the requisite amount of black coming down the runway.  The reason black is timeless is there always seems to be new ways to reinvent the basic black blouse or dress with new structures and textures.  Roland Mouret’s one shoulder shimmering top had a volumous quality without being overpowering, and finally, Christian Dior’s belt and layered skirt made it clear that black definitely does not mean boring.

These were some of my favourite looks from New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks so far.  Feel free to reach out and let me know what you think of the pieces I liked and if there were trends you’re looking forward to.  Our next blog post will focus on our new handbag accessories coming this season.
